My motivation for taking this course is I am compelled to learn about economics from an indigenous perspective. I teach with the business administration program at Coast Mountain College in a context where we talk about indigenizing our courses and programs.

I also teach microeconomics and macroeconomics 100 level courses and find myself lacking the knowledge to really talk about concepts through a place based lens. I would like to get a more firm understanding of how economics is impacting my students from their perspective. I have lived on Haida Gwaii and now on Tsimshian territory. Having a firm grasp on the language, concepts and understanding of this subject that impacts my students in this context is important to me. I am also a supporter and learning about the land back movement. I hope this course opens up some understanding of land back and what that would look like in terms of economics also.

My work background and graduate work has been in project management. I have a Bachelor of Commerce through TRU andI am about to embark on a Masters of Learning and Technology at Royal Roads in March. It is my hope to get this course finished before starting that endeavour. I look forward to learning about these concepts.
