So the final paper for LRNT 523 I have been working on predicts some of the changes my institution will navigate as mitigation strategies for climate crisis impacts become more prominent. One of the things I talk about in that paper is how measuring climate emissions within my institution will become a norm by 2030. When planning our academic calendar we will not only consider the numbers of students we are expecting and the space and resources we have available we also will need to as a third consideration project the emissions from learning activities. All discussed in my paper, due in a couple of days. Which leads me to today where I was teaching my face to face business communications course. The class was great. These students are engaged, able to move forward and create the learning together and it’s like they don’t even need me anymore. As they worked through their group activities today what did I do? Worried about the projector and how long it was on and making sure it was shut down, considering how much paper I needed to print and thinking what was the minimum we could get away with for our activities. How many students can I fit in my car after class to get them back into town. Honestly the students were lucky I did not make them work in the dark because I was tempted to turn off the lights at points.
